Mealworms
Dear 3.8,
Like all of you, I have also kept 4 mealworms for this project.
Also, I will try my best to take a picture of my mealworms everyday so that I will be able to observe its changes and hopefully, at the end of this project, they will turn into beetles. :) You can click on the link on the right hand side panel of this blog to view my mealworms.
Love,
Mrs Goh
P.S. Do you know that all of your mealworms arrived in SVPS in this box? Can you spot your mealworms in this picture? :)

P3 Mealworm Beetle Project
Dear 3.8,
Please remember to let your parents read and sign the reply slip in the "P3 Mealworm Beetle Project" letter which was given out to you today.
Should any of you not bring the reply slip, your mealworms will be kept in school until your parents have indicated that you are allowed to bring it home.
Do remember to take good care of your mealworms. And also, since this is a self-directed learning activity, I hope that you will be enthusiastic about it and chart your own learning progress.
Remember, how much you will learn and gain out of this project will be determined upon on how much effort and time you have spent on understanding and observing it.
Have fun taking care of your new pets tomorrow! And do not forget to share your observations and findings on the wall I have created too (http://www.wallwisher.com/wall/mealwormproject)
Love,
Mrs Goh

Research on bloodworms- Samantha
Dear 3.8,
I wonder if any of you can still remember Samantha asking me what are bloodworms on Tuesday?
Well, if you recall, I didn't give her an answer immediately. Instead, I asked her if she would like to find out more about bloodworms on her own and discuss them with me on another day. Samantha went back home and did a little research. On Wednesday, she passed me some notes and asked if she can share them with the class. I agreed and here are the notes for your general knowledge purpose.
Thank you for sharing, Samantha.

Life Cycles
Dear 3.8,
On 6 July, you were tasked to draw, illustrate and write short notes on any of the life cycles which you have learnt in the previous lessons.
I must say that many of you did a very good job and managed to come up with fantastic pictures to depict the life cycles of your choice. I do hope that you have learnt something or reinforced what you have learnt during the process.
Do remember that for this topic, you need to be able to:
- Identify animals that have a three-stage life cycle
- Identify animals that have a four-stage life cycle
- What happens during each stage of the life cycle
- Make comparisons between the same stage among different animals' life cycles
- Make comparisons between any two stages of a particular animal's life cycle
- Know the similarities and differences between the three-stage and four-stage life cycles
Here are some of your friend's completed works:
What do you think of your friends' works?
Also, apologies to those pupils whose works were cut off at the edges as my scanner wasn't able to capture the entire piece of paper. For those pupils who would like to view the above actual pieces, you may keep a lookout for them in your classroom as I will be passing all the pupils' works to the decoration committee to exhibit them in the classroom.
Love,
Mrs Goh
Welcome!
Dear 3.8,
Welcome to your class's very own Science blog. :)
Through my observations and conversations with you, I have realised that many of you are very interested in using the computers to learn and explore. Thus, I have decided to create this blog with the purpose of getting you to share with your friends what you have learnt or any other interesting things which you have come across and which you felt were useful and would benefit your friends too. If you wish to share anything (for example, websites/notes/concept maps which are related to what you have learnt) with your friends on this blog, just let me know and I will do the posting for you.
For starters, I will be posting up some of your friend's work on life cycles. You may leave a comment by clicking on the word "comments" at the end of the post. Do note that comments posted should be as encouraging as possible and try to add value to your friend's work by probably giving them more ideas on how to improve their existing piece of work or perhaps let them know of a better way to do it. However, should you spot any mistakes in your friend's work, point it out to them nicely to avoid hurting them.
Remember that we are all here to learn together by sharing our knowledge with one another. Try to keep criticisms to the minimal and instead, focus on how we can help our friends grow and at the same time, acquire new knowledge in the process.
I hope that you would find this blog beneficial.
Love,
Mrs Goh
